We just got back from a 10-day trip in Salt Lake. We were both sent there for a meeting and stayed the weekend before and after for some skiing of course. It's a awfully bad year... not enough snow and nasty inversion. I had a great time tho... snow wasn't bad at all (except for too much of exposed rocks and stuff) and we actually found some fresh powder at solitude and alta :-)
I was ready to be home at the end of the trip...after moving from one friend's house to the hotel... 5 days of sitting still and coding ... yet hauling all the gear to another friend's house. But man do I miss Utah... I miss going skiing on the weekend and being totally dead at the end of the day. I miss seeing the mountains wherever you go. I miss all the awesome friends!! Maybe I should just start making a better effort making new friends here and starting to appreciate the difference and what chapel hill has to offer. I mean, I do! I didn't complain when a climbing day had to start 5 in the morning (We could well waited till lunch time to head out back in salt lake ... there is so much great climbing just within 30min drive) ... but starting even 5am won't bring any skiing :( I miss skiing... I miss snow!! I miss the solitude being all that experience brings... away from all the noise and stress... the daily life...
I miss Utah!
